Common questions

Everything you need to know about Snipzilla's plans and billing.

How does text expansion actually work?

You define a snippet: a short trigger like `.addr` and the full text it should expand into. Type `.addr` anywhere and Snipzilla instantly replaces it with the full phrase, like 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield. It works at the system level, so it expands in your IDE, browser, email client, chat app, or anywhere else you type.

Do I need to create an account before I can download the app?

Yes. You register first at zillasoft.io, and the download links appear in your dashboard immediately after sign-up. No credit card is needed. The account takes about 30 seconds to set up and is required to manage your trial and subscription.

Does Snipzilla work without an internet connection?

Core text expansion works fully offline. An internet connection is only needed when you first create your account, when the app verifies your subscription in the background, and when you use cloud sync or AI Assist. After a successful verification, the app keeps working offline. If it cannot verify for more than 24 hours (1 hour during a trial), it will prompt you to reconnect.

Does Snipzilla read everything I type? Is it a keylogger?

Snipzilla monitors keyboard input only to detect the trigger shortcuts you have defined. It does not log, store, or transmit what you type. The moment a trigger is recognized and expanded, the detection state resets immediately. No record of your keystrokes is ever kept outside of that recognition step. Your snippet contents are stored locally on your device and encrypted at rest.

Is my snippet data private? Can ZillaSoft read it?

Your snippets are encrypted on your device with AES-256. Cloud sync runs automatically in the background on Trial, Premium, and Enterprise plans. Your data is encrypted end-to-end before it ever leaves your device, so ZillaSoft has no access to your snippet contents. Only you hold the encryption key.

What platforms does Snipzilla support?

Windows and Linux, with macOS support coming soon. Snipzilla runs at the system level and works in any app: IDEs, browsers, email, docs, everything.

Do I need a credit card to try Snipzilla?

No. Every install comes with a 15-day free trial with full Premium feature access. No card required. You only need to subscribe if you want to keep using it after the trial.

What happens when my trial ends?

If you have not subscribed, the app enters a read-only state. Your snippets are safe; you just cannot add or expand until you pick a plan.

Can I switch plans later?

Yes, you can upgrade at any time. Billing adjusts pro-rata. Your snippets are always yours.

Are there discounts for teams?

Yes. Both Premium and Enterprise plans include tiered discounts. Premium bulk licenses: 5% off for 5 or more seats, 10% off for 15 or more, and 15% off for 30 or more. Enterprise volume discounts: 5% off for 50 to 99 seats, 10% off for 100 to 199, and 15% off for 200 or more. Discounts apply automatically on the pricing page.

What's the difference between monthly and annual billing?

Annual billing saves you money on every plan compared to monthly. Standard drops from $3.99 to $2.99/month (25% off); Premium from $7.99 to $5.99/month (25% off); Enterprise from $10.99 to $9.99/seat/month. All are billed as a single yearly charge.

What happens to my snippets if I cancel my subscription?

Your snippets stay on your device permanently and are never deleted. The app moves to a read-only state, so you can view your library but cannot add new snippets or use dynamic tokens until you resubscribe. If you were on Premium or Enterprise with cloud sync, your data remains safely on our servers and is restored instantly the moment you resubscribe. You can permanently delete your data at any time from your dashboard.

Can I use Snipzilla on more than one computer?

Yes, with a Premium or Enterprise plan. Cloud sync keeps your snippet library in sync across all your devices automatically (end-to-end encrypted). On a Standard plan, snippets are local only; you can move them between machines manually using the export and import feature.

Can snippets contain images, or paste an image from the clipboard?

No. Snipzilla is a text expander, so snippets are plain text only. The [clipboard] token reads text only. If you copy an image and trigger a snippet with [clipboard], the token expands to empty text rather than pasting the image. For image workflows, we recommend storing your image in cloud storage and using a snippet to quickly expand its URL or file path.
